In May 2009, the new 2-story science classroom building at Santa Fe High School was complete. Later that summer the building was officially dedicated and named for one of the District's strongest advocates for science education, William P. Herschleb, the principal of Santa Fe High School.
In November 2009, the building was awarded LEED® Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the plaque has been installed next to the elevator in the first floor lobby.
The building features 8 science classrooms with 4 paired / shared teacher demonstration labs. The spaces were designed to allow for the maximum flexibility in teaching and to introduce sustainability and technology into a K-12 learning space.
