The Polk County School Board is undertaking several major campus-wide master plan projects at some of the District's older campuses. Winter Haven Senior is one of those campuses. In early 2009, M.M. Parrish Construction Company was selected as Construction Manager for the phased renovation of Winter Haven Senior.

Phase 1 includes the demolition of the existing media center and the original administration building to make room for a new, 2-story admin/media center. This phase also includes a new softball complex and construction of a varsity locker room.

Phase 2, which was originally slated to begin at the conclusion of Phase 1 has been accelerated and will start late summer 2010. Dozens of temporary portables were brought in to house the students who will be displaced from the 9 buildings demolished as part of Phase 2.

Phase 3, a new freshman academy (ninth grade center) is currently bidding and will likely be underway by early Fall 2010.

The first phase is on-track for completion this December and the second and third phases will be complete in time for the start of the 2011-2012 school year in August 2011.
